Rick Nickelchok was back at the helm at UNB. The Red Devils had lost nine players, including leading scorers John Gravelle, John McKerrow and Ed Trail along with defenseman Blair MacPherson. They went mostly with local players as replacements including, Mike Belong, Paul Campbell, Ian Chernoff, Chris Bailey and Mike Pothier. After winning their first game, UNB went on a 1-19 stretch and lost players like Mike Sutherland, Paul Loggie and Ralph Manning along the way. It got so bad that Mark Jeffrey was brought in to try to help the team rise up from the ashes, but it was too late and they finsihed dead last (3-22-1), not helped by a 1-3 record against STU. Top scorers in the 26 game schedule was Renato Marino (14-9), followed by Jamie Lehman (2-21) and Jr. B Caps graduate Mike Belong (6-13). Second half addition Mike Sokalski had 6-10 in only 14 games.
